My thought of the day (yep, just the one) ties nicely with the Daily Prompt, Obstacle Course
Think about what you wanted to accomplish last week. Did you? What are the things that hold you back from doing everything you’d like to do?

This morning while I took pause from mopping the bathroom floor to reply to a work email on my phone, I realised something. I wish I’d discovered it sooner, and I’m in no hurry to find a solution.

I can’t be everything, to everyone, at one time.

Hoorah! I’ll never again feel like a failure for not achieving everything on that day’s ‘to do’ list. Who can be all things to all people, every day? Not me! I figure I can be two things, at most….

Today was the turn of ‘domestic goddess’ and ‘administrative genius’. Yay for the newly restored order in my home (well, most of it – my house is never entirely tidy in the same was that my kids are rarely simultaneously clean!) as I’ve danced and pranced my way around the house to my favourite tunes (spelt choooooons, obviously!) with a spring in my step and smug sense of achievement. Once I get stuck in, I actually quite enjoy housework, who knew?!?! Plus, I bid a cheeky ‘Adios’ to the pile of paperwork that I’ve been ignoring since before chrismas. I now have an unobstructed view of my computer screen (paperless society, my arse!) as everything has now been paid, filed, replied to and rescheduled appropriately. Hoorah, I am achievement personified!

But bang goes creativity for the day, there’s little chance of a well planned nutritious meal on the dinner table this evening, and we may need to redefine ‘appropriate school uniform’ in the morning based on the meagre remnants left hanging in the kids wardrobes… But hey, there’s always tomorrow, right?

Here’s the song that I must thank for my energised cleaning abilities today. Gotta love a good boogie when nobody’s looking. Cobwebs 0, Lucy 1. Mwah ha ha…..
